From dramatic clifftop hotels and historic fishing inns to country-house retreats and foodie stays, these are some of my favourite places to stay on the Lizard Peninsula and around South Cornwall.

The Lizard Peninsula is Cornwall’s most dramatic and distinctive landscape — a windswept headland stretching into the Atlantic and home to Britain’s most southerly point. From the turquoise waters of Kynance Cove to the timeless fishing village of Cadgwith, this remarkable corner of the West Country feels more like Brittany than Britain.

A beautiful walk from Cadgwith into the wooded Poltesco Valley, taking in Carleon Cove, the ruins of its Victorian serpentine works and a stretch of the Lizard coast.
